Tahawus means 'cloud splitter' in an Eastern Woodland Native American dialect. You can certainly tell that is the inspiration for this rustic piece. It has a crossed design that will remind you of clouds on a pretty day. The rest of the bench has a fitted seat with enough room for plenty of friends to seat and be comfortable. This product is made from Northern white cedar. Northern white cedar is unique, because it is naturally resistant to wood rot and pests. It is extremely light weight, yet it can resist cracking, splintering, or swelling. Cedar products can last 25-30 years unfinished. It will be shipped in its natural golden color. You can leave it like that, or stain it with a water based oil stain. Protect your cedar furniture with the Staining Kit. If you leave it as is, it will naturally weather to a silver gray. This is normal and adds to the character of the piece. The choice is up to you!
