As a portrait of an “average Joe”, Joe Wurzelbacher was propelled into the limelight by John McCain on Wednesday night during the final presidential debate.
Joe had recently questioned Barack Obama about his tax plan. Catching him during a tour of Joe’s Ohio neighborhood, he asked Obama whether he will have to pay higher taxes when he realizes his longed-for “American dream”: buying out the plumbing company that he now works for.
The answer was yes, that as Joe will be making profits of over $250,000, he will move from the 36% tax bracket into the 39% bracket. However, Obama’s plan will actually lower taxes for all those who make less than $250,000.
It is a plan for the underdog, and Obama replied that while Joe will pay more in taxes, his customers, most of whom probably make less than $250,000, will have more disposable income with which to buy plumbing services.

To recoup some of the cash he’ll be paying out in higher taxes, perhaps Joe the Plumber will furnish his fancy new corner office with beautiful office furniture from www.iFurn.com. Unlike most politicians, with prices well below retail and excellent customer service, iFurn.com delivers on their promises. With a gorgeous new Milano L Desk in Harvest Cherry (pictured), maybe Joe the Plumber won’t care so much if Obama is in the White House…
